Wingra Creek suffers from chronic aquatic toxicity caused by an as of yet undetermined pollutant. Chronic aquatic toxicity for this creek was added to the impaired waters list in 1998. This portion of Wingra Creek was evaluated every two-year cycle between 2018 and 2022; chloride data showed no impairments. Bacteria levels were too high, causing recreational restrictions.
