Water is impaired due to one or more pollutants and associated quality impacts.
Notes
This portion of Black Earth Creek was evaluated in 2014, 2016, and 2018. In 2016 degraded biological communities (fish and bugs) were found. In 2018 elevated phosphorus levels were found. This water is on the Restoration Waters list because it is covered by the Dane-Iowa Adaptive Management Plan.

Impaired Water Notes
This water was assessed during the 2018 listing cycle; new total phosphorus sample data exceed 2018 WisCALM listing criteria for the Fish and Aquatic Life use, however, available biological data do not indicate impairment (i.e. no macroinvertebrate or fish Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) scored in the "poor" condition category). The degraded biological impairment was based on macroinvertebrate scores - the 2018 assessments did not have sufficient mIBI scores for delisting. The degraded biological impairment is maintained until more mIBI sample data can be collected.

Impaired Water Notes
This water was assessed during the 2016 listing cycle; biological impairment was observed (i.e. at least one macroinvertebrate or fish Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) average scored in the poor condition category).

Impaired Water Notes
Degraded biological impairment was associated with the new 2018 Total Phosphorus listing. This Unknown Pollutant listing is proposed for deletion.
