Impaired Water - Roaring Creek (Roaring Creek)
Jackson County, Wisconsin
BR03
1695200
0.00 - 5.34
5.34
Water is impaired due to one or more pollutants and associated quality impacts.
Notes
Roaring Creek was added to the impaired waters list in 1998 for Total Suspended Solids and Degraded Habitat.

This water was assessed during the 2016 listing cycle; total phosphorus sample data overwhelmingly exceed 2016 WisCALM listing thresholds for the Fish and Aquatic Life use, however, available biological data do not indicate impairment (i.e. no macroinvertebrate or fish Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) scored in the "poor" condition category).

This water was assessed during the 2018 listing cycle; new total phosphorus sample data overwhelmingly exceed 2018 WisCALM listing criteria for the Fish and Aquatic Life use. New fish sample data exceeded 2018 WisCALM listing criteria for the Fish and Aquatic Life use (i.e. at least one fish Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) average scored in the poor condition category).

Impaired Water Notes
A fish survey conducted at Cutoff Rd. in 2002 found one brown trout and a few forage species. The number of fish captured was not sufficient to calculate an IBI.

Continuous temperature monitoring in 2002 found a maximum temperature of 210 C. and a mean temperature of 14.50 C. at two sites. Temperature monitoring results suggest the stream should support a coldwater fishery. Wild brook trout should be stocked in this stream.
