The Milwaukee River Watershed TMDL was approved by the EPA on March 9, 2018 and covers waters in the basin impaired for Total Phosphorus, Sediment/Total Suspended Solids, and bacteria (E. coli and Fecal Coliform).

The West Branch of the Menomonee River (unnamed creek) is impaired due to recreational restrictions because of high Fecal Coliform bacteria levels. Fecal Coliform concentrations exceed 400 cfu/100 ml 23% of time annually and 10% of time from May through September. Data is from the MMSD Corridor database housed at USGS. In SEWRPCs Regional Water Quality Management Plan Update for the Greater Milwaukee Watersheds , the report states Fecal Coliform counts are poor on an annual basis and considered moderate through the swimming season. Land use is primarily commercial (56%) and industrial (12%) in this area.
