Middle Eau Claire Lake was evaluated for phosphorus and algae every two years between 2014 and 2020. Phosphorus levels were found to be too high in the 2014 cycle and this lake was added to the Impaired Waters List. In the 2022 cycle phosphorus was clearly below criteria, prompting a delisting. This lake is covered by a restoration plan: A Water Quality Strategy for the Land and Waters of the Red Cedar River Basin (2026). Evaluation in the 2024 cycle confirmed attainment.Pollutant
