Impaired Water Notes
The St. Louis River Area of Concern (AOC) impaired waters listing will now include the entire St. Louis River, St. Louis Bay and Allouez Bay. This area is already listed for Hg and PCB Fish Consumption Advisories. In 2006, PAHs and metals were added to the list for aquatic toxicity.

Data was collected between the years of 1994-1998 and assessed by WDNR staff in 2009 for the St. Louis River AOC. WDNR has determined that the pollutants of DDT, Dieldrin, and Dioxin (2,3,7,8-TCDD) exceed wildlife and human threshold and human cancer criteria listed in Tables 8 and 9 of NR 105. These pollutants elevate health risks to wildlife and humans.
