Water is impaired due to one or more pollutants and associated quality impacts.
Notes
The Chippewa River was put on the impaired waters list in 1998 for PCBs in fish tissue and sediment. It was also listed for mercury from 1998 to 2008; new fish tissue samples showed mercury levels below the statewide advisory level. This river segment has been evaluated for phosphorus in 2014 and every two years between 2018 and 2024; levels were appropriate for healthy aquatic communities like plants, bugs, and fish. Evaluated bug communities in 2018 and 2020 confirmed this.Pollutant
