Impaired Water Notes
Agricultural nonpoint sources and stormwater are contributing large amounts of sediment and nutrients which are impairing habitat and water quality. Large volumes of sediments and nutrients are entering the river with storm water runoff from Rice Lake and burying coarse rock rubble substrates and causing trophic cascade reactions that will impact the river far downstream.

Agricultural nonpoint sources
Serious storm water runoff problems: two serious episodes occurred in 2005 depositing sediment deltas in the river 200’ long , 70’ wide, 4 ft. tall
