Honey Creek is on the 303d list and is proposed for monitoring sediment/habitat and biological community to determine the impact of total suspended solids in the creek. In 2012, this waterbody was assessed and total phosphorus sample data exceed 2012 WisCALM listing criteria for the fish and aquatic life use; however, available biological data do not indicate impairment (i.e. no macroinvertebrate or fish Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) scored in the poor condition category). Impaired Water Notes
July 06-June 07: Honey Creek was monitored for habitat impairment caused by sedimentation. A fisheries IBI and habitat assessment Honey Creek (3 sites) and one site on each of 3 major tributaries were conducted. Monthly nutrient analysis (12) of Honey Creek below WWTP outfall were conducted. The watershed was also assessed to determine sediment sources. Macroinvertebrate analysis at 6 sites was also conducted. Need to complete a TMDL on the habitat impairment which is the reason the stream is on the 303(d) list. This was one of the five regional projects submitted for TMDLs as required. This project will hopefully result in corrective management actions.
