Impaired Water - Unnamed (Osman Trib to Meeme River)
Manitowoc County, Wisconsin
SH06
5025264
0.00 - 1.16
1.16
Water is impaired due to one or more pollutants and associated quality impacts.
Notes
The Osman tributary to Meeme River is listed on the Impaired Waters List for degraded habitat and low dissolved oxygen, due to non-point source discharges of phosphorus and suspended solids. This water is covered by the Northeast Lakeshore TMDL, approved in 2023. The TSS listing was missed in the TMDL records - this listing will be added in the 2026 cycle. New water quality data reviewed in the 2024 cycle indicated no additional pollutants.

Impaired Water Notes
Unnamed Tributary to Meeme River is listed on the Impaired Waters List for degraded habitat and low dissolved oxygen, due to non-point source discharges. Historical fish, macroinvertebrate, and habitat surveys support the continued listing of this waterbody. Current habitat and fish biological indices rate the stream in good condition. Overall, I would rate the stream habitat as fair, due to channelization and limited stream flows. Dissolved oxygen continue to support the current 303(d) impaired water listing for this stream.

Impaired Water Notes
Fish, Habitat, and Water Quality surveys on Grandma Creek (John Masterson and Craig Helker, WDNR, 2007) Stations: 180 meters upstream of Lorfeld Road (SWIMS Station: 10022195) Parameters: Electrofishing CPE Survey, Fish Habitat Survey, Hydrolab (Instantaneous Water Quality Parameters) Database where data is stored: Fish Habitat Database, SWIMS, WATERS, Personal PC, Files Results: Fish IBI score and habitat ratings were good. Dissolved Oxygen (mg/L) was monitored for 4 days with values of minimum (1.77), maximum (8.45), and median (3.63).

Impaired Water Notes
This water was assessed during the 2016 listing cycle; total phosphorus sample data exceed 2016 WisCALM listing criteria for the Fish and Aquatic Life use, however, available biological data do not indicate impairment (i.e. no macroinvertebrate or fish Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) scored in the "poor" condition category).
