Mineral Lake was put on the 303(d) list due to mercury in 1998 and was removed from the Special Fish Consumption List in 2000.

Mineral Lake was evaluated for phosphorus and algae every two years between 2014 and 2024. Phosphorus levels were found to be too high. This lake is covered by a restoration plan: Marengo River Watershed Partnership Project: Watershed Action Plan (expires 2023)
