This stretch of the Manitowoc River supports a smallmouth bass fishery. However, historic discharges have contaminated sediment in the river. PAHs and PCBs in sediment are known to be in the sediment. This river stretch was put on the Impaired Waters List in the 1998 cycle. Evaluation of bug communities in the 2022 cycle showed them in good condition. New water quality data reviewed in the 2024 cycle indicated no additional pollutants.Pollutant
