Impaired Water - Pine Creek (Pine Creek)
Calumet County, Wisconsin
MA05
79900
5.54 - 9.12
3.58
Water is impaired due to one or more pollutants and associated quality impacts.
Notes
PCB contaminated sediment and floodplain soils create an unacceptable level of risk to human health and the environment at this site. The responsible party has entered into an agreement with the state committing to the completion of the clean up, but with an indefinite timeline. This portion of Pine Creek was evaluated every two years between 2014 and 2024. In 2016 phosphorus levels were found to be too high for healthy aquatic communities such as plants, bugs, and fish. A phosphorus listing was added in 2016 and confirmed in the 2020 and 2024 cycles. This water is covered by the Northeast Lakeshore TMDL, approved in 2023.
