Impaired Water Notes
Cherokee Park Creek is impaired by high fecal coliform concentrations (bacteria) that contribute to recreational restrictions, as well as high loadings to the Kinnickinnic watershed. Modeled fecal coliform concentrations exceed 400 cfu/100 ml 25% of the time annually (mean 4715 cfu/100 ml) and 13% seasonally (2187 cfu/100 ml). This stream is stormwater dominated. About 60% of the urban nonpoint source load is unexplained and could be from illicit connections, leaking sewers or other unidentified sources.
