DOOR COUNTY: Little Sturgeon Lake Management Plan

Purpose

Door County proposes to create a baseline characterization of Little Sturgeon Bay. This study will include delineation of watershed drainage basins and refining inventoried watershed data, identification of shoreline land uses, an aquatic vegetation survey, development of an exotic species control plan and phosphorous and sediment load modeling based upon the inventoried land use data. A report containing the results and interpretation of the results with management alternatives will be submitted to the Wis. DNR. The project will also result in a purple loosestrife control plan for Riley's Point that maximizes public input and involvement. The complete information gathered in the multi-agency/public effort will be used to develop a comprehensive lake management plan in the future.
