POLK COUNTY: Lake Loveless Planning Project

Purpose

The Polk County Land & Water Resources Department will conduct a comprehensive lake management planning project involving a study and evaluation of Loveless Lake in Polk County. Project activities will include; a watershed inventory and mapping survey, conducting an in-lake water quality survey and inflow stream monitoring, conducting an exotic species inventory, compiling a comprehensive land use and soils inventory with phosphorus loadings estimates, monitoring lake level and precipitation, conducting a lake sediment survey, conducting a landowner survey, conducting a shoreline video documentation survey, conducting a biodiversity survey, the development of a lake response model, conducting an on-going public participation, media involvement , and information and education program, and the completion of a comprehensive lake management plan. Specific deliverables for this grant project include: A comprehensive lake management plan for Loveless Lake including the project results. The Department of Natural Resources will be provided with both a paper copy and an electronic copy of the final report. The project results will be disseminated to the public by newsletter(s), public meeting(s), and local newspaper articles.
