SPREAD EAGLE CHAIN O'LAKES ASSOCIATION: West Lake Management Plan Development

Purpose

Develop a lake management plan with recommendations for West Lake in the areas of water quality, fish management, and aquatic plant management. Project activities include: 1. Water quality sampling 2. Determine major aquatic plant species and map their relative abundance. Make management recommendations concerning weed control versus fishing habitat. 3. Use water quality information to determine impact of development on west lake. 4. Map sedimentation along the shoreline; estimate depth and determine sources. 5. Identify major fish species, their relative abundance, and spawning and nursery locations. Recommend long term fish management plan. Educate association members in the use of water quality sampling equipment and sampling procedures. Prepare a final report on the results of the above tasks. Disseminate information on the project results to the public by newsletter, entire report mailing, public meeting, summary report mailing, newspaper article, and comprehensive management plan.
