MID LAKE PROTECTION & MANAGEMENT DISTRICT: Mid Lake Management Planning

Purpose

Water quality monitoring during 1991 and 1992, for parameters and on scheduled as described in letter dated July 19, 1991 from Ron Krueger to Don Hecht, attached to application. Sampling site will be at location shown in Figure 1. A dissolved oxygensurvey will be conducted in late February. A survey for algae will be conducted in April, mid-June and late July. Algae species diversity and density will be recorded. A macrophyte survey will be conducted in July, 1992. Macrophyte sampling will befor species diversity and density. Transects and sampling locations will be located using the reference map attached to the application. This sampling regime will replicate the one used in 1976 for Mid Lake by Northern Lake Service. A shoreline surveywill be conducted in July 1992 to identify land use types. Problems and sensitive areas including highly erodible soils, septic fields, wetlands, woodlands and conservancy areas will be delineated and mapped. Current and potential erosion problem areaswill also be identified. Management recommendations will be made for problem areas. Information will be disseminated to the public by newsletter mailings, local newspaper articles and public meetings. Project results will be reposited at Lake Dist.
