BUFFALO LAKE PROTECT & REHAB DISTRICT: Buffalo Lake Water Quality Monitoring Project

Purpose

The Buffalo Lake project is a USGS water quality trend monitoring effort. Four years of monitoring will be conducted and parallel to the DNR's LTTM program protocol. The goals are to determine current trophic conditions, assess conditions at Buffalo Lake relative to other regional lakes, and build a database for determining trends. These products will be developed: 1) Data will be published in USGS "Water quality and Lake Stage Data for Wisconsin Lakes," 2) Annual summaries, and 3) Final summary report. The DNR will be provided with two paper copies and an electronic copy of the report. The project results will be disseminated to the public by newsletters, fact sheets, public meetings and news articles.
