LONG LAKE PROTECTION AND MANAGEMENT DISTRICT: Long Lake Phase II, Tributary Monitoring

Purpose

The Long Lake Protection & Rehabilitation District proposes to conduct a four phase comprehensive lake water quality monitoring, tributary monitoring, sociological survey, watershed evaluation, plant survey, and hydrologic and phosphorus budget study of Long Lake in Polk County. The Phase 1 through Phase 4 projects would provide data and analysis that would lead to the development of a comprehensive lake management plan in a future project. Phase 2 activities will include; the collection of phosphorus and flow data from the "north ditch" tributary. Specific deliverables for this Phase 2 grant project will include: A data summary of inflow phosphorus data and hydrologic data from the north tributary. The Department of Natural Resources will be provided with both a paper copy and an electronic copy of the final report. The project results will be disseminated to the public by newsletter(s), public meeting(s), and local newspaper articles.
