MONTELLO LAKE P&R DISTRICT: Montello Lake Drawdown Evaluation

Purpose

The Montello Lake Protection & Rehab District proposes to conduct a drawdown evaluation that will include the following components: Sediment compaction and erosion evaluation; shoreline video for plant community evaluation, pre and post drawdown; aerial photo survey of lake and shoreline for visual evaluation of plant community response; and recommendations based on the analysis of the data. The District also proposes to conduct an aquatic plant management survey that will include the following components: An appraisal of plant community in 2004 to evaluate the effects of the drawdown, a rake survey protocol will be employed, as well as interpretation of photographic documentation; and the development of a revised comprehensive aquatic plant management plan that addresses mechanical harvesting, chemical control, protection of sensitive areas, restoration of degraded littoral zones, and includes a public education component.
