TOWN OF NEW CHESTER: McGinnis Lake Aquatic Eco System Assessment- Phase 1

Purpose

McGinnis Lake Aquatic Ecosystem Assesement is Phase 1 of a mutilple phase study. This study will consist. of a number of components including: 1. The evalutation of surface water quality 2. Determine areas of groundwater inflow and outflow along with the quality of the groundwater flowing into the lake 3. Delineation of surface and groundwater watersheds 4. Assessment of land uses within the watersheds 5. Aquatic macrophyte inventory 6. Survey of residents The Environmental Task Force Program will produce a report that includes areas of inflow/outflow, estimated inflow of groundwater, loading coefficients, and estimates of hardness entering McGinnis Lake via groundwater inflow. Delineated watersheds (surface and groundwater) with associated land uses will also be included in the report. The DNR will be provided with both a paper copy and an electronic copy of the final report. Information will be disseminated to the public as described in the grant application.
