The Town of St. Germain will sponsor a project to promote public awareness of aquatic invasive species (AIS). The Town of St. Germain Lakes Fair Committee will oversee the project that includes a Town Lakes Fair. Funding will be used for programs, flyers, mailings, newspaper advertisements, banners, pontoon boat rentals (for AIS field trips) and the cost of event planning.
Goals: 1) Implement an adopt-a-lake project for the St. Germain area (collaboration between youth groups and lake organizations). 2) Inform the public about lake management issues and current management projects. Provide various ways for the local community to volunteer.
Products: 1) Present lake management information to the local community via the Lake Fair and local press releases. 2) A final report (in both paper and electronic format) will be made available to the DNR, Vilas County Land and Water Conservation Dept., Saint Germain Town Board, local lake associations, districts, and other interested entities.
