RUSK COUNTY LAND CONSERVATION DEPARTMENT: Potato Lake - Lake & Watershed Water Quality Study

Purpose

Rusk County (and the Potato Lake Association, Inc.) proposes to conduct a lake and watershed water quality study and an evaluation of nutrient loadings to Potato Lake in Rusk County. Project activities would include; compiling watershed land use, soils info, historical and sociological info, acreage, and P loading estimates, disseminating project information via newsletters and association meetings, tabulating and evaluating water quality analyses results, estimating erosion from various watershed land uses, inventorying and assessing loadings from barnyards and streambanks, surveying lake aquatic plants, and compiling a final report. Specific deliverables for this grant project will include: ? A final report compiling all information collected during the project activities listed above. The Department of Natural Resources will be provided with both a paper copy and an electronic copy of the final report. The project results will be disseminated to the public by newsletter(s), public meeting(s), and local newspaper articles.
