CITY OF OCONOMOWOC: RES-Community Center Island Restoration-Lac LaBelle

Purpose

The City of Oconomowoc will implement a shoreline stabilization project on the Community Center Island located on LacLaBelle Lake. Biologs will be placed along the shoreline, and native plants will be placed in the biologs and along the shoreline. Non-native plants (purple loosestrife, box elder, etc.) will be removed. The project will be implemented in the Spring and Summer of 2006. The island is 530 feet long and the width ranges from 27 to 115 feet. Native plant species will also be planted in the middle of the island. Educational sessions will be held with the public. The project deliverable will be a short report detailing the progress of the project from start to finish and will include before and after pictures. The report should also contain copies of the fliers for the educational sessions. Two paper copies and one electronic copy of the report will be provided to the Department of Natural Resources.
