HORSEHEAD LAKE P& R DISTRICT: Horsehead Lake Management Planning

Purpose

1) Water quality monitoring during 1991 and 1992, for parameters and on schedule as described in letter dated July 19, 1991 from Ron Krueger to Linda Houghton, attached to application. 2) A dissolved oxygen survey will be conducted in late February.3) A survey for algae will be conducted at the times indicated in the July 19, 1991 letter referenced above. Algae species diversity and density will be identified. 4) A macrophyte survey will be conducted in late July 1992. Transects and samplinglocations will be the same as those in the 1976 study of Horsehead Lake conducted by Northern Lakes Service. Species diversity and density will be recorded. 5) A shoreland survey will be conducted in July 1992 to identify land use types. Problem andsensitive areas includinghighly erodible soils, septic fields, wetlands, woodlands, and conservancy areas will be delineated and mapped. Current and potential erosion problem areas will also be identified. Management recommendations will be made forproblem areas. 6) A final report will be completed by October 1992. It will include lake production measures and management alternatives. 7) The DNR shall receive copies of the final report. 8) Information will be dissmeninated to the public by
