MARINETTE COUNTY LAND CONSERVATION COMMITTEE: Thunder, Eagle, Island Lakes Management Planning

Purpose

1) Water quality monitoring furing 1992-94 as specified in application. 2) Conduct macrophyte surveys on Island and Eagle lakes to determine if Eurasian Milfoil has invaded.3) Conduct macrophyte study on Thunder Lake to compare Eurasian water milfoil populations to 1991 DNR survey. 4) Produce underwater video showing underwater plant communities in lakes.5) Characterize sediment composition and evaluate suitability for Eurasian Milfoil. 6) Develop a nutrient budgets and identify areas where erosion is occuring on three lakes.7) Prepare a management plan for Thunder Lake and hold public meeting. 8) Disseminate information to the public by newletter, local newspaper, video program, poster display and public meeting.

The Thunder Chain of Lakes, Thunder, Eagle and Island Lakes, are located in Marinette County, Wisconsin. Goals The goals of this project were: -to examine existing lake conditions -to develop a lake management plan that protects, maintains, and enhances the lakes water quality.
