CITY OF JANESVILLE: Lions Pond Hydrologic Budget & Water Quality Monitoring

Purpose

The City of Janesville proposes to identify and study the sources of nutrients to Lions Lake and Trout Pond. Phase 2 project activities include the following: 1) review all available pertinent data, 2) describe characteristics of the basin and watershed, 3) develop hydrolic budget estimating water inflows and outflows, 4) develop management alternatives and recommend ways to reduce phosphorus and other pollutant loads contributing to eutrophication of the ponds. The Department of Natural Resources will be provided with both a paper copy and an electronic copy of the final report. The project results will be disseminated to the public by summary, final full report and fact sheet mailing, public meeting and local newspaper articles. A final comprehensive management plan will be completed.
