The Minocqua/Kawaguesaga Lake Protection Assocition, Inc., in cooperation with the US Geological Service (USGS) and a hired consultant, will conduct a lake/watershed evaluation and develop a management plan.
The project includes: 1) USGS will conduct lake water quality, streamflow, precipitation, groundwater & lake stage monitoring and simulate changes in phosphorus loading of the lakes 2) a consultant with assocation help, will develop and conduct a community survey and summarize results in a report 3) consultant will conduct educational activites 4) consultant will construct a lake/watershed managment master plan and action plan.
Project deliverables include: 1) USGS archived data, 2) precipitation, lake stage, & flow data on the USGS internet web site, 3) discharge, water quality & loading data published in annual USGS data reports, 4) summary of educational activities, 5) presentation of results at the lake assocation annual meeting, 6) Water Resources Investigation Report will be prepared summarizing project, 7) Developed lake/watershed management master plan.
Specific conditions for this project include: 1) Installation of stream and lake guaging stations must receive the approval and/or permit from the DNR water regualtion section. 2) a draft copy of the lake/watershed management master plan must be presented to the DNR for review and approval prior to adoption of the final plan.
The Department will be provided with an electronic and paper copy of the master plan and "Water Resources Investigations Report", "Water resources data-Wisconsin" and "Water-quality and lake-stage data for Wisconsin lakes".
