ROCK LAKE IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION: Lake Management Plan Update for Rock Lake

Purpose

Rock Lake Improvement Association will write a comprehensive lake management plan to update their old, 1995 plan. They will reassess lake and watershed data, identify new concerns, create a plan for addressing current and future nonpoint source pollution, and use expert and citizen input to make recommendations for protection and management of the lake. Deliverables: The final product will be publication and distribution of a comprehensive plan with recommendations to assist lake managers and government officials with future decisions covering 1. Unity plan for governing bodies, partners and public. 2. Educational objectives. 3. Management strategies for the following topics: a. shoreline preservation and restoration b. wetland preservation and restoration c. implementing conservation practices d. water level e. fish and wildlife enhancement f. recreation g. stormwater* h. construction site erosion* 4. Ordinance development 5. Future data collection needs. 6. Management considerations for the other lakes in the watershed. A full description of the project scope and project deliverables is in the grant application, which is a part of this agreement. The DNR will be provided with a final report on the results of this project.
