INLAND LAKES PROTECTION & REHABILITATION DIS: Inland Lakes APM Plan Development

Purpose

The goals of this project are to develop an updated Aquatic Plant Management Plan for the district to identify and prioritize aquatic plant management concerns including harvesting, shoreline treatments, navigation lanes and protecting important habitat. The plan will also include contingency plans for the potential introduction of exotic invasive species. The scope of the project will include the following: a. Perform an aquatic plant survey using the Department recommended grid point intercept methods in Reservoir Pond and the attached water bodies using GPS coordinates including depth and bottom substrate at each point intercept. The survey in McCaslin Brook downstream will follow protocal of the former survey. b. If exotic species are found map the distribution and acreage of exotic invasive species along with pressing and submitting specimens to the Department of Natural Resources for vouchering. c. Perform basic parameter water quality monitoring including dissolved oxygen, temperature profiles secchi depth and pH. d. Hold two meetings with lake board members and any other interested party to discuss the project and discuss specific plant management concerns. To include in the planning process. e. Products and deliverables will be to prepare the Aquatic Plant Management Plan for harvesting or any other method of management supplying ten bound printed copies to the Lake District, hard copy and cd to the department which includes the survey results and final plan.
