Return to Search
Purpose
Installation and construction of shoreline protection practices to stabalize that portion of the Wolf River Marsh Complex along the Wolf River delta at Lake Poygan, protecting the wetland, reducing sediment & phosphorus loading to the watershed, and improving the aquatic habitat.
Objective
Impede erosion and revegetate a major portion of the Norwegian Bay marsh/wetland in order to reduce effluent turbidity, TSS and phosporus entering Lake Winnebago.
Outcome
Behind the installed riprap breakwater, clearer water and emergent and submergent wetland plants were being reestablished to reduce sediment delivery to Lake Poygan by 1,553 tons TSS and 2,330 lgs. phosphorus annually.
