TOWN OF WASHINGTON: Lynx Lake Aquatic Plant Survey & APM Plan

Purpose

The Town of Washington in cooperation with the City of Eagle River and Town of Lincoln will conduct an aquatic plant survey, lakeshore resident survey and develop an aquatic plant management (APM) plan for the Eagle River Chain of Lakes (Chain). The project includes: 1) a "kickoff meeting" to coordinate and finalize project plan 2) review existing lake morphology, data, degree of lake use, water quality records, and aquatic plant survey data 3) aquatic plant survey using point intercept method for Lynx Lake 4) lakeshore resident survey 5) measure water clarity at the deep hole within each lake basin 6) development of APM plan for the Chain following DNR guidelines. Project deliverables include: 1) Aquatic plant survey report with a section on invasive species education, watershed, water quality, and lakeshore resident survey results, 2) APM Plan for the Eagle River Chain of Lakes, 3) Two plant voucher specimens for each plant found in aquatic plant survey of the Chain- one each for DNR and the T. of Washington, 4) Mid term project update, 5) Consultant will provide the Township with 3 copies of draft and final report, one educational article and public questionnaire, attendance at "kickoff meeting", Town meeting to present project results and a site visit to discuss goals of project, CD containing APM Plan files, and CD per lake with GPS points of aquatic plants presence and abundance. Specific conditions: Project design plans, resident survey questions, and APM plan, need review and approval from DNR before project begins and adoption of final management recommendations. Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will be provided with electronic (pdf) and hard copies (2) of APM plan, all raw data in electronic format, and a copy of CD's created during project. Project results will be disseminated to the public via a presentation the Town of Washington.
