ANVIL LAKE ASSN, INC: Anvil Lake AIS Early Detection & Response Project Phase 2

Purpose

Anvil Lake Association, Inc. is sponsoring phase 2 of an Early Detection and Response project to be completed by December 31, 2017. The project will focus on surveying, mapping and hand-pulling the new discovery of EWM in Anvil Lake, Vilas County. Project activities include: 1) Conduct annual early-season AIS and peak-biomass surveys; 2) Conduct early season acoustic survey; 3) Control EWM by hand removal efforts; 4) Develop annual maps and letter report. Project deliverables include: 1) EWM survey data and maps; 2) Annual letter report describing the findings of the early-spring survey, peak-biomass survey, acoustic survey, hand-pulling efforts, and guidance for continued control actions. Specific conditions for this project: Annual letter report needs Dept review and approval. WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) copy of letter reports, all maps, and all aquatic plant and GIS data.

The Anvil Lake Association solicited the services of Many Waters, LLC to utilize their Diver Assisted Suction Harvesting (DASH) program to manage for Eurasian watermilfoil (EWM) on Anvil Lake, located east of Eagle River, in Vilas County, WI. DASH is a mechanical process and requires a mechanical harvesting permit (Form 3200-113 (R 3/04)) from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR). The 2016 Permit ID for Anvil Lake is NO-2016-64-80M.
