TOWN OF NEWBOLD: AIS Boat Inspection, Education, Rapid Response Project

Purpose

The Town of Newbold, is sponsoring an Aquatic Invasive Species Education, Prevention & Planning project on Two Sisters Lake. The project will focus on preventing AIS introductions into Two Sisters Lake, monitoring for AIS, developing a rapid response plan for any AIS introductions and providing AIS education. Project activities include: 1) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program at public landing on Two Sisters Lake from May 6-September 30, 2006 2) Hire an AIS Coordinator (duties include training/scheduling volunteers, landing inspections, AIS monitoring, and entry of inspection forms) 3) Deliver suspect AIS to rapid response team and WDNR 4) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 onto Dept website by Coordinator 5) Conduct in-water AIS monitoring in June, July and August 6) Develop AIS information packet 7) Install AIS signage/kiosks at public landing Project deliverables include: - Completed entry of inspection forms 3200-120 onto Dept website - Position description for AIS Coordinator - AIS information packet and signage including photos - Final report (contents listed on Attachment C of proposal) Specific conditions for this project: - A minimum of 720 boat landing inspection hours are needed for this project - Final report needs Dept review and approval WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report including the deliverable listed above.
