TOWN OF SCHOEPKE: Pelican Lake Landing AIS Education Project

Purpose

The Town of Schoepke is sponsoring an Aquatic Invasive Species Education, Prevention & Planning project which will focus on AIS education, preventing AIS from leaving and entering Pelican Lake, and monitoring for AIS. Project activities include: 1) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program from May-October, 2006 2) Hire 2 AIS Coordinators (duties include training and scheduling volunteers, landing inspections, AIS monitoring, and weekly entry of inspection forms) 3) Deliver suspect AIS to WDNR 4) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 onto Dept website by Coordinators 5) Develop Adopt-a-Shoreline program, monitoring in-water and by shoreline throughout project period 6) Results of project will be shared in newsletter and local media Project deliverables include: - Completed entry of inspection forms 3200-120 onto Dept website - Position description for AIS Coordinators - Newsletter/local media articles - Final report (summarizing CB/CW, AIS monitoring and educational activities) Specific conditions for this project: - A minimum of 600 boat landing inspection hours are needed for this project - Final report needs Dept review and approval WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report including deliverables identified above.
