LEGEND LAKE P & R DISTRICT: Management of AIS in Legend Lake

Purpose

The Legend Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District proposes to control Eurasian Watermilfoil and Curlyleaf Pondweed in Legend Lake by implementing control measures during 2015. The project elements and deliverables are specified in Legend Lakes grant application dated February 1, 2015. The project includes conducting;Spring AIS mapping survey, Polygon PI survey (pre-treatment; 544 points; EWM/HWM/CLP), Summer AIS mapping survey DASH, Polygon PI survey (post treatment;544 points; all species), Full PI survey \2013 System \2013wide, Fall AIS mapping survey Polygon PI survey (post-treatment; 544 points ;EWM/HWM) Point Intercept surveys using the DNR Aquatic Plant Treatment Evaluation Protocol http://www4.uwsp.edu/cnr/uwexlakes/ecology/APM/Appendix-D.pdf ,will be utilized, in addition to creating the AIS distribution maps. Grant deliverables also consist of shipping water quality samples, dissolved oxygen and temperature meter, residual sample analysis, sensitivity testing, milfoil DNA analysis, permit fee, DASH construction, DASH operation and labor, contracted DASH services, meeting/presentation, progress report, and plan update. Annual progress reports and a final report summarizing the project will be provided to DNR. Any publications produced as part of the project will incorporate the \201CStop Aquatic Hitchhikers!\201D\2122 brand (partnership details can be found at: http://www.protectyourwaters.org). If consultant is to provide the final report, it is recommended that the Grantee provide the DNR Aquatic Invasive Species Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant.
