Horse Creek PWS Plan - Nine Key Element Plan

Purpose

The Horse Creek Priority Watershed Project plan assesses the nonpoint sources of pollution in the Horse Creek Watershed and guides the implementation of nonpoint source control measures. These control measures are needed to meet specific water resource objectives for the Horse Creek Priority Watershed. The purpose of this project is to reduce the amount of pollutants originating from nonpoint sources that reach surface water and groundwater within the project area.

Objective

The primary objective of the project is to reduce nonpoint source pollution to the surface water and groundwater, and to enhance and protect the water quality of streams in the Horse Creek Watershed.

Outcome

The project goals are to maintain and protect shoreline buffers, reduce total phosphorus in several lakes, maintain and protect water quality, reduce in-stream sedimentation and in-stream habitat loss, and form a lake association or district in cooperation with all the lakes in the watershed.
