Purpose

The East River Priority Watershed Project plan assesses the rural and urban nonpoint sources of pollution in the East River Watershed Project area and guides the implementation of nonpoint source control measures. These control measures are needed to meet specific water resource objectives for the East River and its tributaries and for lower Green Bay.

Objective

The primary objective of the project is to reduce nonpoint source pollution to the surface water and groundwater, and to enhance and protect the water quality of streams in the East River Watershed Project area.

Outcome

For the communities of Green Bay, De Pere, Allouez, Ashwaubenon, Bellevue, (as a group) the urban nonpoint source control targets are: 50% reduction of the 1986 sediment load from the incorporated area and 40-60% reduction of the 1986 heavy metal load (as measured in zinc or copper) to reduce the potential of violating the state water quality standards of stormwater.
