BURNETT COUNTY LAND CONSERVATION DEPARTMENT: Big Doctor Lake Study & Management Plan

Purpose

Burnett County in partnership with Big Doctor Lake Association, Village of Siren, and DNR is sponsoring a project to better understand nutrient and habitat conditions and stakeholder interests in Big Doctor Lake and its watershed. Activities include water quality, shoreland/habitat, and watershed monitoring/modeling, piloting/evaluating nutrient reduction methods, assessing stakeholders, and developing a comprehensive management plan, including options for the Village wastewater treatment plan to reduce its load to the lake. The final deliverables are a comprehensive lake management plan; data collected, entered, and summarized as part of the project; and any education/outreach materials developed. The specific objectives, metrics, and deliverables for the listed activities are included in the application and supporting materials, and this scope is not intended to replace or supersede those documents.
