TOWN OF SCHOEPKE: Pelican Lake AIS Education Project

Purpose

The Town of Schoepke is sponsoring an Aquatic Invasive Species Education, Prevention & Planning grant to be completed by December 31, 2007. The project will focus on AIS education, prevention and monitoring. Project activities include: 1) Recruit volunteers and implement a Clean Boat/Clean Water program at Pelican Lake landings 2) Hire 2 AIS coordinators 3) Conduct AIS citizen lake monitoring following Dept/UW Ext guidelines 4) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 and monitoring forms onto Dept website 5) Disseminate AIS information at boat landings, public areas, resorts, businesses, and newsletter Project deliverables include: 1) Completed entry of inspection 3200-120 and monitoring forms onto Dept website 2) Assembled AIS information and newsletter article(s) 3) Final report summarizing CB/CW activities, AIS monitoring, and AIS educational activities Specific Conditions for this project: - Final report needs Dept review and approval WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report, samples of assembled AIS information and newsletter article(s).
