TOWN OF NAMAKAGON: Lake Namakagon AIS Education, Prevention & Investigation Project

Purpose

The Town of Namakagon in cooperation with the Namakagon Lake Association, is sponsoring an AIS prevention & education project including a boat inspection program at the public landing; educating boaters about AIS & prevention; monthly aquatic sampling for invasive aquatic plants; construction of AIS displays at boat landings around the lake; one youth environmental awareness day & one adult environmental awareness day. Deliverables include a comprehensive report including: 1) Documentation of donated time and services related to grant administration. 2) Watercraft inspection report including time and number of people reached; CB/CW survey results; results will be entered into the CB/CW database. 3) Report on construction of the informational displays. 4) Report on the environmental awareness days including agenda and number of attendees. 5) Report on aquatic sampling AIS results including boat & shoreline monitoring observations of any detected aquatic invasive species with appropriate maps. 6) AIS related materials generated or paid for by this grant. Special conditions for this project: The project sponsor shall immediately contact proper DNR authorities in the event in the event of a new aquatic invasive species infestation. This scope summarizes the scope provided in the grant application and does not supersede the application specifics. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the Lake Coordinator. If consultant is to provide final report, it is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Lake Coordinator with a draft for comment. DNR to receive both paper and electronic copies of the final report.
