NEBAGAMON LAKE ASSOCIATION, INC.: AIS Education, Prevention, & Planning Project

Purpose

The Nebagamon Lake Association is continuing AIS prevention through a two part project which will include monitoring of launches by boat inspections and public education. The project includes a program of boat inspections at the public boat landing starting on fishing opener weekend and continuing through Labor Day weekend. The project also includes educating the boaters about AIS and prevention. The project is based on hiring a part-time supervisor to train, schedule, and oversee a crew of paid workers and volunteers. Upon completion of the project, the sponsor will provide the state with a comprehensive report including: 1) Documentation of all donated time and services related to administration of this grant. 2) A watercraft inspection report including total time and number of people reached. The report will also include Clean Boats, Clean Water type survey results. The boat inspections results will be entered into a Clean Boat, Clean Waters database. 3) Any AIS related materials generated or paid for by this grant. Special conditions for this project: The project sponsor shall immediately contact the DNR in the event of a new aquatic invasive species infestation. This scope is intended to summarize the detailed scope provided in the grant application and does not supersede grant application specifics. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Coordinator. If consultant is to provide final report, it is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Lake Coordinator with a draft. DNR to receive both paper and electronic copies of the final report.
