OCONTO COUNTY: LCO - Oconto County Lake Study and Planning, Phase 1, Grant 12

Purpose

The Oconto County Land Conservation Department is sponsoring a multi-phased project to develop a County Wide Lake Study and Planning Project for all lakes in Oconto County with public access. The project final deliverables of Oconto County Lake Study and Planning, Phase 1, Grant 12 include water quality sampling, lab analysis, modeling, and reporting for each lake. This project also includes updating the bathymetry on each. Mini reports will be created and they will include, key maps and graphs with brief interpretations written for a citizen audience with sections on water quality, the aquatic plant community, AIS, shorelands, fisheries, lake settings, and watersheds with associated land uses. This project also proposes to assess the capacity of groups and lake front property owners through Meet Your Scientist/Capacity Building Meetings. The DNR Biologists will conduct Aquatic Plant Point Intercept Surveys, Woody Habitat Surveys, Shoreline Surveys, Aquatic Invasive Species Surveys, Water Quality Sampling, and will update lake bathymetry. Specific project activities include: 1)Water sampling, lab analysis, and reporting 2) Water quality modeling 3) Bathymetry Special Conditions: 1) CLMN efforts should not be duplicated and these data shall be included in the trends analysis and final reporting; 2) All CLMN shall be entered into the SWIMS database.
