CALLAHAN LAKE PROTECTIVE ASSOCIATION, INC: Callahan-Mud Lakes APM Planning Project

Purpose

The Callahan and Mud Lakes Protection Association is sponsoring a project to update their Aquatic Plant Management Plan (APMP) with the following goals/activities: 1) Sample lake water quality; 2) Conduct aquatic plant point-intercept (PI) surveys (following DNR protocol), early season AIS mapping surveys, late season AIS mapping surveys, and sub-PI surveys in expected treatment areas; 3) Present AIS educational materials at three Association meetings each year and hold an annual AIS education workshop for lakeshore residents; 4) Conduct a sociological survey of lakeshore residents; 5) Review AIS signage at boat landings and update as needed; 6) Conduct a Clean Boats Clean Waters watercraft inspection program; 7) Conduct CLMN AIS monitoring; 8) Develop an updated APMP. Project deliverables include: 1) Data from water quality monitoring, aquatic plant surveys, sociological survey; 2) Training attendance lists, AIS meeting attendance, and AIS outreach updates; 3) Entry of CBCW and AIS monitoring forms into SWIMS; 4) Several management planning meetings; 3) Annual reports and updated APMP. Specific project conditions: 1) Draft of stakeholder survey needs to be submitted to DNR for review and approval before sending to public; 2) APMP needs DNR review and approval; 3) WDNR Lake Biologist will be provided with an electronic copy of reports and/or management plans; data from stakeholder survey, water quality, aquatic plant surveys; all maps, educational presentations/materials, and GIS data from project. If consultant is to provide final report, it is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Lake Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. DNR to receive both paper and electronic .pdf copies of the final report along with, or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request.
