TOWN OF NEWBOLD: AIS Control : Watercraft Inspection, Adopt-a-Shoreline Inspection & Rapid Response

Purpose

The Town of Newbold is sponsoring an AIS EPP grant to be completed by December 31, 2008. The project will focus on AIS education, prevention, and monitoring. Project activities include: 1) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program at town landings; 2) Hire CB/CW coordinator; 3) Conduct AIS citizen lake monitoring following Dept/UW Ext guidelines (two Adopt-A-Shoreline sweeps); 4) Maintain zebra mussel monitoring stations; 5) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 onto Dept website; 6) Create and distribute CB/CW lures; 7) Disseminate AIS information at boat landings, public areas, and businesses. Project deliverables include: 1) Completed entry of inspection 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 onto Dept website; 2) Sample lure; 3) AIS educational materials; 4) Final report summarizing CB/CW activities, AIS monitoring, and AIS educational activities. Specific Conditions for this project: Final report needs Dept review and approval; WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report, a sample lure and samples of AIS educational materials.
