LEGEND LAKE P & R DISTRICT: Legend Lake EWM Control Project

Purpose

The Legend Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District proposes to control Eurasian Water-milfoil (EWM) through chemical treatment and preventative measures in the Wahtosah/Skice basins during the period 2008-2009. The project elements and deliverables are specified in the District's Aquatic Invasive Species Grant application, dated January 30, 2008. The project includes conducting pre-treatment surveys annually to monitor the extent of EWM and efficacy of the previous year's treatment; treating EWM infested areas with aquatic herbicides; conducting education and prevention activities to prevent further AIS infestations, and conducting watercraft inspections. Watercraft inspection records will be entered into the State's online Watercraft Inspection Database. Annual progress reports and a final report summarizing the two-year project will be provided to DNR. If consultant is to provide the final report, it is recommended the Grantee provide the DNR Aquatic Invasive Species Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. DNR to receive both paper and electronic .pdf copies of the final report along with, or prior to, submission of grantee's final payment request.
