TOWN OF SCHOEPKE: Pelican Lake AIS Education Project

Purpose

The Town of Three Lakes is sponsoring an AIS EPP grant to be completed by December 31, 2008. The project will focus on AIS education, prevention and monitoring. Project activities include: 1) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program at town landings; 2) Hire two AIS volunteer coordinators; 3) Conduct AIS citizen lake monitoring following Dept/UW Ext guidelines (Adopt-A-Shoreline); 4) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 and/or 3200-130 onto Dept website; 5) Develop AIS educational materials (packets, updated VHS information); 6) Install AIS kiosks; 7) Disseminate AIS information at boat landings, public areas, resorts, businesses, and tournaments. Project deliverables include: 1) Completed entry of inspection 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 and/or 3200-130 onto Dept website; 2) AIS educational materials (packets, updated VHS information); 3) AIS kiosks; 4) Final report summarizing CB/CW activities and AIS monitoring. Specific Conditions for this project: Final report needs Dept review and approval. WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report, photographs of AIS kiosks and samples of AIS educational materials.
