GORDON/ST. CROIX FLOWAGE ASSOCIATION: Gordon/St. Croix Flowage AIS Prevention, Education, & Planning Project

Purpose

The Gordon/St. Croix Flowage Association is sponsoring a continuing AIS prevention & education project including a boat inspection program at three public boat landings and resorts; training boat monitors; educating public about AIS and prevention; surveys for invasive aquatic plants; conduct a flowage management survey, and a cooperative effort with outside organizations for kiosk support. A consulting firm will be hired to recruit, train, schedule, and oversee paid and volunteer workers. Deliverables include a paper and electronic copy of final Report including: 1) Final Report summarizing accomplishments of the project including sign construction. 2) Verification of training of inspectors and monitors such as agendas and attendance lists. 3) Watercraft inspection report including time & number of people reached; CB/CW survey results; results will be entered into the CB/CW database. 4) Report on aquatic sampling & shoreline monitoring observations of any detected aquatic invasive species with appropriate maps. 5) Copy of mailings/printed education materials. 6) AIS related materials generated or paid for by this grant. Special conditions: The project sponsor shall immediately contact the DNR in the event of a new AIS infestation. This scope summarizes the scope provided in the grant application and does not supersede application specifics. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the Lake Coordinator. It is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Lake Coordinator with a draft report. If consultant is to provide final report, it is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Lake Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant.
