UPPER ST CROIX LAKE ASSOCIATION: Eurasian Watermilfoil Monitoring on Upper St. Croix & Headwaters

Purpose

The Village of Solon Springs is sponsoring a continuation of their AIS project on Upper St. Croix Lake. Activities include: 1) Hiring a part-time supervisor to train, schedule, & oversee paid & volunteer workers; 2) Monitoring of boat launches by boat inspectors from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.; 3) Educating boaters about AIS & prevention; 4) Public education through use of trained volunteers going door to door informing lakeshore property owners about AIS; 5) Placing articles in newsletters & newspapers; presenting AIS information at local meeting of civic & government groups. Deliverables include a paper and electronic copy of final report including: 1) Watercraft inspection report including time and number of people reached; CB/CW survey results; results will be entered into the DNR CB/CW database; 2) Copies of newsletters, educational materials, & brochures used at the boat landings or distributed to the public; 3) Agenda & minutes of civic or government meetings where AIS presentations are made; 4) AIS related materials generated or paid for by this grant. Special conditions for this project: The project sponsor shall immediately contact the DNR in the event of a new aquatic invasive species infestation. This scope summarizes the scope provided in the grant application and does not supersede grant application specifics. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Coordinator. If consultant is to provide final report, it is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Lake Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. If the Grantee is developing the final report a draft report/deliverables should be submitted to the regional Lake Coordinator.
